The purpose of life is to find your own purpose. Some of us choose to believe in themselves, in science, in the principle of universal morality. God is not the answer. Blind faith is more harmful than argumented disbelief. And please, marriage, being a good citizen, paying taxes and working – that’s what society wants you to do. Its sole purpose is to perpetuate itself, and following these directives only makes you forget about your own individuality. I’m not trying to prone anarchy or atheism. But I really believe that people should discover what’s good and what’s bad by themselves, that they should create their own ethics and find their own goals without turning into brainwashed, obedient, myth-worshipping and expendable robots.
Thank you for sharing this. I am typically an outgoing person that converses well with people. However, I encountered one guy last night at a bar that was a complete asshole. I tried to share my interest in motorcycles after I saw him wearing a harley davidson jacket. I should have taken the first clue when he didn’t respond when I said something, that he was interested in talking. What had happened is he probably got annoyed by me talking and he finally laid it out on the table and said, “I don’t know why I get this feeling like you want to see me naked because you keep talking to me!” It was pretty aggressive and made me feel uncomfortable. I just wanted someone to talk to because I lack social skills and it’s difficult talking to my coworkers sometimes. Anyway, I’ve realized this is an opportunity for me to grow. It was a character building day last night. I will be developing better social skills after reading this article and will know what to look out for when someone doesn’t want to engage in social interactions.
